Montana The Magazine of Western History has been published since 1951 by the Montana Historical Society. A western history journal, it has been nationally noted for both for its well-researched editorial content and it's graphics-rich design.

Kathryn Fehlig was the art director, graphic and production designer of this magazine from 1996 until 2003. She performed all scanning, drawing of maps, and layout design. The quarterly issues averaged 96 pages during Kathy's tenure. Inside layout was 2-color (black plus spot color), with occasional full-color signatures. The front and back covers were always full-color.
